Nurse T’s Rainbow Fruit Kabobs

Nurse T is out with her friends on nice day. They wanted to make a healthy snack for their picnic. These fruits include a lot of nutrients.

 

Supplies You Will Need:

  • Medium Bowls (for each type of fruit)

  • Skewers (wooden sticks)

  • Cutting Board

  • Small Knife for an ADULT ONLY to use

  • Small size cookie cutters

  • Serving Platter

  • Saran Wrap

 

Ingredients:

  • Blueberries

  • Strawberries

  • Pineapples

  • Watermelon

  • Grapes

  • Cantaloupe

  • Kiwi 

Directions:

  1. First Wash Your Hands!

  2. Be sure to clean your working area

  3.  Prepare the fruit by making sure you wash it.

  4. Next ask an adult to slice the fruit up for you. If you are using cookie cutters be sure the adult cut the slices large enough to use the cookie cutter.

  5. Once the fruit is cut place each type of fruit in their own bowls

  6.  Secondly take your wooden skewers and go to each bowl and gently slide one piece of fruit on the skewer to be sure the fruit stays intact. You can add the fruit in a rainbow order or in any fun pattern you would like.

  7. Once you are done adding the fruit to your skewer place the skewer down on the platter and start another skewer.

  8. Once you are done filling up your skewers with fruit, it is time for you and your friends to DIG IN! (Please don’t forget to share with your adult helpers)

  9. Now you can take some pictures of you and your friends eating your Fruit Kabobs and share it with Nurse T!

  10. You may cover your leftovers with the saran wrap and place it in the refrigerator.

 

Nurse T’s Banana Sushi Rolls

Nurse T wanted to make a snack that was high in fiber and easy to digest. Bananas are good for your heart and have a lot of nutrients which include potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, folate, niacin, B6, manganese plus many more!

 

 Supplies You Will Need:

  • 1 Platter

  • A spreader or child’s butter knife (ask an adult helper to cut for you)

  • Saran Wrap

  • Chop Sticks

Ingredients:

  • 2 Whole Wheat or Spinach Tortillas

  • 4 table spoons of Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread or peanut butter

  • If you are allergic to nuts, use soy butter, sunbutter or chocolate hummus

  • 1 banana peeled

  • 3 strawberries sliced

  • Sliced kiwi fruit

  • 2 table spoons of shredded coconut

Directions:

  1. First Wash Your Hands!

  2. Be sure to clean your working area and fruits as needed

  3. Lay the tortillas on the table or flat surface

  4. Next with half of the Nutella, peanut butter, chocolate hummus or soy butter spread over the tortilla

  5. Lay the banana on the edge of the tortilla and roll up

  6. Now cut it into even slices and arrange the slices on your platter

  7. Next microwave the remaining Nutella, peanut butter or spread for 30 seconds or until it is melted then drizzle it over the rolls

  8. Top the rolls by sprinkling the shredded coconut over the rolls

  9. Finally pick up your chop sticks give your family/friends a pair and dig in!

  10. Take some pictures and send them to Nurse T!


Nurse T’s Veggie Train

Nurse T knows how it important it is to stay strong healthy so she has to get her vegetables in daily. Can you please be sure that your Nurse T Doll will see you eat your veggies?

Supplies You Will Need:

  • 26 Toothpicks

  • A long platter

  • A cutting board

  • Ask your adult helper to have a knife and to make all slices for you

  • Saran Wrap

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 Cucumbers

  • 6 Peppers (red/green/yellow/orange)

  • Plum tomatoes

  • Baby Carrots

  • Celery

  • Baby broccoli florets

  • Dip (optional veggie cream cheese, hummus, ranch, blue cheese, peanut butter)


Instructions:

  1. First Wash Your Hands!

  2. Be sure to clean your working area

  3. Clean all fruits

  4. Ask your adult helper to evenly slice off the top of each pepper, set the top aside

  5. Next scoop out the insides

  6. Ask your adult helper to slice your carrots to make sticks

  7. Ask your adult helper to slice your celery to make sticks

  8. Ask your adult helper to slice your broccoli if needed

  9. Ask your adult helper to slice 24 peel your cucumbers so the skin shows on every other side for the wheels

  10. Now it is time to build your Veggie Train!

  11. Now take your toothpicks and attach them to your peppers then add cucumbers on each end to the peppers

  12. Try to hide the toothpicks as far as you can

  13. You can add a locomotive to the front of the train (the front car) cut a cucumber in half and cut the top 3rd of the cucumber off

  14. Now that the base of your train with your cars, wheels, and locomotive are done, you are ready to fill up your train

  15. Take your chopped veggies and add each kind to its on “train car” or pepper (carrots, celery, baby broccoli, plum tomatoes)

  16. Add your dip to the last pepper

  17. Now you are ready to DEVOUR the train!

  18. Invite your friends to come eat with you and don’t forget to offer your adult helper some veggies

  19. Don’t forget to post and send your pictures to Nurse T

  20. Cover your leftovers with saran wrap and refrigerate them
